Queensland firefighters battle tricky fire at The Woodlands’ Kool Kwik Bakery
SUPPLIED The fire broke out at Kool Kwik, about 15km north of Newcastle. The site suffered significant damage.
It is believed a propane tank, similar to one seen during a fire two years ago at a dairy, also destroyed the building.
Sydney Fire Sta넷마블 포커tion manager David Tompkins said an investigation would commence with help from regional agencies.
“A fire at a location such as this should be the highest priority but we certainly wouldn’t rush the investigation,” he said.
A worker with the Kool Kwik cafe in the Kool Kwik Food Centre area was working on the site when the blaze broke out at around 6.30pm.
The smoke at the site was coming from a propane tank.
A spokesman for the Food Centre said the incident had not damaged any of the food, and that all its buildings were safe.
Firefighters were fighting to contain the fire as early as 8.15pm.
The fire is believed to have started within The Woodlands Kool Kwik Bakery at the end of the first floor.
Kool Kwik, which has been operating at the site since 1974, offers a range of items such as bangers and mash for dairy and coffee, as well as catering.
A spokesman for the New Zealand Food Industry Association said the fire at the company was of concern.
He said that after fire, “you never know what you are going to end up with”.
